Kosovo approves bill that bans the involvement of its citizens in armed conflicts outside its territory.
Unlike Albania, Kosovo state has made a step forward in this direction, while in Albania marked the first Muslim detainees who encouraged Albanian citizens to go to war in Syria.Kosovo’s parliament adopted with 48 votes in favor, 10 votes against and 4 abstentions vote for this draft. Law of five articles aimed to prevent union or participation in a foreign army or police, the paramilitary formations outside or para, in group or individual organizations, in any form of armed conflict outside the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
This law will act against any person who participates or organizes, recruits, finances, promotes, manages or trains persons or groups of persons for the purpose of joining or participating in a foreign army or police, the paramilitary formations outside, in organizations group or individual, in any form of armed conflict outside the territory of Kosovo.
The law provides penalties of three to 15 years in prison for those who violate the provisions of this bill. Intelligence agencies often said that several hundred Albanians from Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia may have gone to fight in Syria, while there are no exact numbers of them. Drafters of the bill said that it is necessary for the national security of Kosovo which can be affected by people who are going to fight Syria.
