The owner of this plot was given planning permission to construct 2 residential homes, each having a 2 floors and a basement. Instead the owner started to build a much larger single building on the plot.
When inspectors visited the site in 28th June 2012, they found the columns being constructed for a much larger building which violated their building permit. They were ordered to suspend work immediately. When the site was inspected again on the 12th July 2012, it was found that the order had not been respected, so an order of demolition was put place. There was another inspection on the 18th July 2012 to make sure the demolition was done.
When an inspection was done on the site on the 20th January 2014 it was found that construction has started on on the site, contrary to the building permit after the demolition of the facility.
On the 21st January 2014 the owner was ordered to cease work and return the space to its former condition.
Since that has not happened, instead, the work continued, the Inspection Directorate today took action to demolish that building.
